Treasury Approves Funding for New York High-Speed Internet

$228 million in competitive grants made available to the state Municipal Infrastructure Program.

The Department of the Treasury approved $228 million for high-speed internet construction in New York, awarding a competitive grant to the state’s Municipal Infrastructure Program this week. The funding comes from the American Rescue Plan Act’s Capital Projects Fund and is directed to New York’s ConnectALL program, connecting rural homes and businesses to improved internet networks.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer of New York said, “Broadband is not a luxury, it is a necessity, a utility as vital as electricity for success in our modern economy to ensure people can stay connected, have access to healthcare, jobs, and school.”

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said, “Access to affordable, reliable broadband keeps New Yorkers working, empowers our students, and connects families to critical benefits and services, and I thank the Biden administration, Majority Leader Schumer, and the New York delegation for their partnership in our mission to give all New Yorkers the tools they need to thrive.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Secretary Yellen and Treasury Department officials as they approve projects and programs under the American Rescue Plan.
  • For New York public officials to ensure the effective and efficient use of funds to complete rural broadband connectivity.
